Project Management - Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow...

Hello; hope all are well... Almost all projects I've been on have used GANNT charts. A number of times, I've had to author them. Microsoft Project has been the go-to tool. Where my need was simplicity; I'd simply use Microsoft Excel with blocks of cells shaded accordingly.


Have a look at the below GANNT chart for a bridge construction that took place in 1912! Makes one realise how these basic fundamentals; the basic building blocks don't really change... The best practice and critical and lateral thinking that goes into the plans... The people challenges - The delivery - The closure...



Of course without tools and automation so many complex projects of today would be impossible; of course AI is a great helping hand. However the fundamentals and DNA remain the same!


Project Management is a fascinating field where the execution happens and where at the end of the day; the client/customer sees the value of their investment.
